Last updated July 22, 2026. This page covers what Tether stores, why, and how to have it removed.
What Tether stores
- Server settings, such as your prefix, sticky messages, autonick templates, statusrole rules, and which modules or commands are turned on, are stored in one document per server.
- Reminders you set are stored until they fire, then automatically deleted 30 days after their due time regardless.
- AFK status is stored while you're marked away and removed once you send a message again or clear it manually.
- A linked Valorant account (Riot ID, region, platform, and PUUID) is stored per Discord user, independent of any single server, until you remove it yourself.
What Tether does not store
- Message content is never stored. Commands like summarize read recent messages to generate a response and don't save the text afterward.
- No data is sold, and none is shared beyond the third-party services below.
Third-party services
- Discord's API, to operate as a bot.
- HenrikDev's Valorant API, an unofficial third-party service, to fetch rank, match, and store data for the Valorant commands.
- Google Gemini, to generate AI summaries when you run /summarize. Only the channel messages needed for that summary are sent, and nothing is retained by Tether afterward.
This website's free tools
- The Color, Calculator, and QR tools on this site run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into them is sent anywhere.
- The Define tool is different: it sends the word you look up directly from your browser to dictionaryapi.dev, a free public dictionary API, to fetch the definition. This is separate from the bot itself and happens only when you use that specific tool.
Deletion
- Removing Tether from a server deletes that server's stored settings automatically.
- Run /vaccount remove to delete a linked Valorant account immediately.
- For anything else, including a full data deletion request, reach out through the support server below.
